Inked

My latest point of interest: Tattoos! Okay, so maybe I shouldn't have watched that extra episode of "LA Ink", but you have to admit that it is an intriguing topic. What is it that lures people to get a tattoo? The art... the personality... the uniqueness... maybe even the absolute certainty of having something forever etched into your skin and memory.

How many people at WHS have tattoos? What are the deep stories behind them? This could make a great article, not to mention an amazingly creative opportunity for photos. Would you ever consider getting a tattoo? I might.

  1. My mom said that I can get a tattoo as soon as I figure out what I want to get.

  2. I'd have to be very sure about what to get for a tattoo and where it would be before I got it. I think that small ones in descrete areas are nice.

There is no way I'd get one on my forearm or something like that. In the professional world, very visible tattoos are frowned upon, and I don't want a little decoration to my skin to cause me to lose a job opportunity.

  3. I believe tattoos are an amazing way to express yourself. I have one tattoo of a swallow on my collar bone and I got it because in the period of two weeks two of my good friends killed themselves. It's a reminder to live as free as I can for as long as I can. Most people get tattoos to remember someone close to them or an event that changed their lives. My father wasn't thrilled with it and although at the time my mom thought it was a good idea and took me to get it done, she woke me up the night after I got it freaking out saying it would be there forever. I have to admit when I first saw it, after it was healed, and I really looked at it, it scared the hell out of me. I suddenly realized that's there FOREVER. But I got it for Bobby and Charlie and everytime I see it I think of them. And that's what a tattoo is supposed to do. Make you smile and remember all those faces you never want to forget. I love tattoos. If anyone want's the name of a good artist I can give it to you. As long as you think long and hard about the design and get something meaningful they're the most beautiful thing in the world. I picked the bird because Charlie had two of them. From the day I got my tattoo on, everytime I see a swallow I think of my boys. Flying away. I miss you guys. RIP Bobby Sanders & Charlie White.
