I know this is going to sound like me crying and moaning, but last year as a freshman I was told "Seniority, Seniority, Seniority!" We basically had it pounded into our heads that, in theater, the upperclassmen always got the bigger roles. This year two freshmen got both the lead and 2nd lead roles for Annie Jr...... I suppose I should just stop whining but I am just rather upset.

And why shouldn't you be upset? You are promised one thing and delivered another. I hardly think venting is the same as whining. Anyone in your position who was expecting (based on past promises) a certain outcome from her deliberate effort, and then gets an outcome that is the reverse of that, would be upset.
ReplyDeleteHave you expressed your disappointment to the person(s) in charge? I think it is good to let the management know that you have been over-promised and under-delivered. That is poor customer service, to put it in business terms.

I agree with Mr. Burd on the whinning vs. venting. I don't believe that you are whinning becuase you were in fact promised one thing and then it was stripped from you. So yes, I would definately talk to someone in charge. Don't complain but just question in a professional tone and stare them down. It might get you somewhere, or at least some answers.
